Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 104902
Unable to use domain with dash '-' during registration
Last modified: 2013-02-07 22:42:26 UTC
During registration of a new OpenOffice installation the system does not allow an email address where the domain name has a dash. Specifically tried to register with robws@schu-box.com and got an invalid email address error and it would not leave the registration page.
i have confirmed this bug with two other domains containing a hyphen, one a personal domain and one a test domain; get error "Email Address is improperly formatted" also, dashes don't seem to be allowed in passwords; error message is misleading: "Password must be between 6 and 60 characters"
I have also experienced this problem. I am unable to register as a user of Openoffice because my email address contains a hyphen. When registering with my email address @function-design.co.uk, I receive the message "email address is improperly formatted". If I remove the hyphen, the message does not appear. I understand that a bug tracker may not be the place to makes this comment, but: It seems that this bug is now over 6 months old. With the greatest of respect, surely it should not take that long to provide a working implementation of what would seem to be a trivial bit of functionality used on millions of sites?
