Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 73360
Text boxes: When limit of character reached no feedback to the user what happend
Last modified: 2009-07-20 15:19:49 UTC
If you enter 65536 ASCII characters in a text box (e.g. from clipboard) of OOo (e.g. Chart: Insert / Title) you are not able to put them in but you also get no feedback from the application that you have reached the limit of 65535 characters. It would make sense that also the applications would set a max. limit which would give the same feedback, only with a different number of allowed characters.

Certainly. However text fields are not meant to be used for whole novels anyway, so i consider this a somewhat less pressing issue.

fixed in CWS vcl82
please verify in CWS vcl82 BTW: pasting that text into a MultiLineEdit (e.g. File->Properties) takes a long time since every single character is inserted to check formatting. But that's a different issue.
Works fine in PATCH and in FAT office installation. Test case is being designed. Feature mail has been created.
