Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 87527
Releases that are not available should be noted as such
Last modified: 2013-02-07 22:33:37 UTC
when clicking on the download link for Mac OS X OOo version 2.4.0, the bouncer app (url http://openoffice.bouncer.osuosl.org/?product=OpenOffice.org&os=macosxppc&lang=en-US&version=2.4.0 ) times out searching for the Mac OS X 2.4.0 release. This is because the release isn't actually available yet. Unfortunately, the Bouncer error page makes no mention of why the attempted download failed, only that it did fail. With the OS X release backed up a couple of days with QA issues, all attempts to download the 2.4.0 release of OOo for Mac OS X should immediately return an error message clearly and succinctly explaining that it is unavailable, why, and when it is expected to be made available. In fact, this is probably a good general rule: if there is a release held for any reason, Bouncer should be made immediately aware of this, or the auto-detect download page should be updated to reflect this.
